Our shop,in the village of Peasenhall is run by Mother and Daughter Team Jan & Charlotte, with help from Tony and Paul on the Furniture and Operations side. As a team, we have a passion for interiors, and we believe that shopping antiques and preloved is not only a way to find unique pieces, but is also a conscious choice for the environment. We look forward to welcoming you, whether you visit us in person or shop with us online.
The Team:
Charlotte - Charlotte was introduced to the world of antiques and interiors from a young age, regularly attending antiques auctions and fabric showrooms throughout her childhood. After starting her career in the NHS, Charlotte made the decision to pursue her love for interiors, and went on to work in high end furniture sales, and later for a world-renowned textile company at the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre in London. Surrounded by beautiful products, and working with a wide variety of clients, it was here that her appreciation for textiles grew. After having a family, Charlotte returned to her native Suffolk and enjoys being able to combine her interest in interiors and textiles with her love of Suffolk, and also providing a warm welcome to the shop!
Jan - Jan, Charlotte’s Mum, grew up in Suffolk and often accompanied her Dad to auctions from a young age, sparking a lifelong interest in antiques, furniture and ceramics. Over the years, Jan has renovated several period homes, refining her love for interiors and design. Her passion for fabric has always been at the heart of her creative journey and she has a keen eye for combining colour and texture. With a true appreciation of all things interiors, Jan looks forward to welcoming you to Martin & Howe.
Tony - Tony, Charlotte’s Dad has lived in Suffolk all his life, and has developed a deep knowledge and passion for antiques and ceramics over the years. He has a particular knowledge and interest in regional antique furniture - especially East Anglian. He is a skilled restorer, and has carried out restoration work for several renowned BADA dealers and private clients, as well as for Martin & Howe. Tony enjoys sharing his knowledge, and his enthusiasm for antiques is matched by his love of wildlife. Sustainability is a key part of his ethos and he believes in the value of preserving and reusing quality items for the future.
Paul - Paul is Charlotte’s husband and he supports the Martin & Howe Team with operational tasks and makes sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes!
